El día 13 de Diciembre del corriente año se realizó la Asamblea Anual Ordinaria de la Asociación Paleontológica Argentina, a la cual concurrieron numerosos socios. En primer lugar se puso a consideración la Memoria Anual, Balance General, Cuenta de Gastos y Recursos, Inventario e Informe del Órgano de Fiscalización (34° ejercicio). Se designó, de los socios presentes, a la Dra. Graciela Bressan y al Dr. Ezequiel Vera para firmar el Acta de la Asamblea. Luego, el presidente Dr. Emilio Vaccari expuso un breve resumen de las principales acciones que se están llevando a cabo en la Asociación. Posteriormente, se rindió un homenaje en memoria de Ricardo Pasquali, Alba Zamuner y Silvia Aramayo. El Dr. Eduardo Tonni expuso una emotiva semblanza del Dr. Pasquali y se leyó un mensaje enviado por la Dra. Teresa Manera para homenajeara Silvia Aramayo. Con la presencia de la Sra. Susana Becerra, viuda de Pasquali, se descubrió una placa y se dejó inaugurada la Biblioteca Dr. Ricardo. A. Pasquali. Esta biblioteca contiene los libros donados por la Sra. Becerra. Luego se procedió a la entregas de los premios Osvaldo Reig, Florentino Ameghino y Miguel Fernando Soria (hijo) correspondientes al tomo 48 de Ameghiniana. Al finalizar la Asamblea se dio paso a un ágape y brindis entre los presentes.

Workshop requirements: Graduate or Postgraduate in Life or Earth Sciences (including paleontologists no matter the degree), basic knowledge in Statistics and personal computers. Knowledge of Geometric Morphometrics. Personal laptop. We would like to encourage participants to bring along their own morphometrics data.

Timetable: Tuesday to Friday:
9:30 to 13:30: Lessons.

There will be two coffee breaks each day, distributed between lessons.

Preliminary program: 1. Brief review of geometric morphometrics: Procrustes fit, shape space, covariance matrices, etc.. 2. PCA for characterizing patterns of integration. 3. Partial least squares and integration. 4. Practice: patterns of integration. 5. Indices of integration. 6. Modularity: concepts and analysis. 7. Modularity hypotheses: where do they come from?. 8. Practice: Indices, allometry and comparisons. 9. Comparing patterns of integration. 10. Developmental integration and modularity. 11. Evolutionary integration and modularity. 12. Practice: integration & modularity. 13. Allometry as a factor of integration. 14. Multilevel analyses of integration and modularity. 15. Presentations of group work.
Fees: Reduced registration fee until January 15, 2013: 340 €. Full registration fee after January 15, 2013: 455 €. Those people attending to this workshop could apply for a 20% off in the course QUANTITATIVE GENETICS OF SHAPE. We offer the possibility of paying in two installments (contact us at courses@transmittingscience.org). The price includes the workshop material, coffee breaks and lunches.
