Curso del Instituto Catalán de Paleontología: 3D Geometric Morphometrics

3D Geometric Morphometrics

The course is entitled to teach the main concepts of shape analysis based on three-dimensional landmark coordinates. In this course we you will learn to manipulate 3D models and use them to collect landmark data, take measurements, and to quantify and visualize the main differences in shape.
Instructor: Melissa Tallman

Course requirements: Graduate or Postgraduate in Biological Sciences, basic knowledge in Statistics and in personal computers. Personal laptop is recommended (Windows, Mac & Linux).

- Introduction to Geometric Morphometrics
- Data acquisition in 3D
- Laying landmarks in 3D
- Warping
- Taking distances and areas
- Sliding semilandmarks
- Error studies
- Data exploration

Timetable: 10-13h and 15-18h
Fees: 270 €. The price includes lunch, coffee breaks and the course material. The course’s capacity is limited to 25 attendants, and will be occupied by strict inscription order. Please fill out and submit your pre-inscription form; we will confirm your acceptance by e-mail. The course will
be held only if 50 % of the places are occupied.
